Error when starting QMI connection

Hi,

I just got the 4G LTE version of the dongle, inserted a SIM card which was previously tested in my Smartphone for wireless internet connectivity and inserted the dongle into the OBD port.

The dongle wakes up correctly and I’m able to connect to it using the local WiFi the dongle creates.
When I configure the APN (internetg without username and password), the data are written to the dongle but during the reboot process? I get error message “An error occured when starting QMI connection”, and below “Restarting LTE connection”.

Will appriciate any help on this.

Ziv

Here is the complete error message.

The MTU is by default set to 1500, and should only be modified if you experience connection issues where the connection only works sporadically, and/or if the device is not able to connect to the autopi cloud.

Hi Ziv and welcome to the community.

Thank you for attaching the error message to this thread, it’s very helpful. When the QMI network has such an error no packet data handle, it’s usually the case that the device isn’t able to properly communicate with the SIM card’s provider. Usually the troubleshooting steps for this issue are these:

  • Try a different SIM card, preferably a SIM card from a different carrier than you already have. If the new SIM card is able to get connected, it’s usually the case that your provider has set some limitation on what devices can use the SIM card.
  • Try to get connected when the device is in an area with stronger mobile coverage.
  • Try the SIM card in a phone or a tablet

If none of the above are helpful in resolving this issue, you should send a ticket to our support system where we can take a deeper dive into the issue. You can submit a new ticket by sending a mail to support@autopi.io.

Best,
Nikola

Nikola, ticket can be closed.
Problem was with the SIM card as you’ve suspected.
Thanks for the support!

Hi,

The problem eventually was with the SIM provider, apparently, they had to configure the SIM to properly work with data only devices, such as Auto.pi.

Thanks!
