Drawing more current for external device

Hello community,

For our application we are connecting an external hardware to AutoPi. This hardware is expected to draw current of around 1A-1.5A. Now as per my understanding the USB ports of Pi can supply a max of 500mA. Is there anyway of accessing this current using AutoPi or directly from OBD?

Thanks Regi54, we are using the original AutoPi Gen2. And was wondering in case more power is needed if we can access it from some port etc.
